Went exploring in an abandoned train tunnel at Donner Pass (yes, that Donner pass). I guess they've dug a deeper one that avoids having to use the snow sheds and such on the other side of this one, but they left the old tunnel there wide open for people to explore in.
So, Yesterday, me, my son and his friend Matt, took one of the most fun explorations I've done in quite a while. I going to put a couple more in my scraps, but essentially we had to sort of shimmy down a snow bank and then entered the tunnel which was less than 1/2 mile long, but I think longer than a quarter mile. The whole thing was covered with an almost flat sheet of ice for it's entire length. I've never seen anything like it. In the middle of the tunnel we came across this...which was very cool. Being boys, on the way back we tried to knock it down...figuring that it would grow back in a fairly short period. We were unsuccesful and probably a good thing too as it probably would have fallen on us (that's another thing we boys lack...).
Anyway, a good and close time was had by all. Part of what makes exploring fun is that it's a totally shared experience....
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
