So...I'm not religious at all (read athiest), but this sunset was completely spiritual. I left my wife and kids back in the Mazama lodge (they didn't want to go) and went driving around the east rim of Crater lake in hopes of catching a sunset (or at least some cool pictures). My fist plan was to drive completely around the rim of this amazing place, but I quickly realized that I wasn't going to make it because I was stopping to often to take pictures :). I finally ended up at cloudcap overlook. The sky was perfect. Clear to the West, yet overcast above. The wind was blowing about 15 to 20 MPH and very cool. It didn't matter though, I knew what was coming...so I walked up the little trail that went to the highest point and settled down to wait....and wait I did. Although it didn't seem that long, I was up there for about 2 hours. The sky just kept changing and changing, and I kept chewing up my flash cards. All in all, I think I shot over 1.5 GB of images (raw of course). These are just a sample...

It was very, very amazing. I was all alone, and that was both good and bad. It would have been nice to share with someone I loved, but for some reason, it was also nice knowing that she (in a way) gave me the sunset to enjoy all by myself!

Sunsets are always fabulous. I don't think religious convictions should have any bearing on that.
